Chanakaya words........

A wicked wife, a false friend, a saucy servant and living in a house with a serpent in it are nothing but death.

One should save his money against hard times, save his wife at the sacrifice of his riches, but invariably, one should save his soul even at the sacrifice of his wife and riches

Save your wealth against future calamity. Do not say “What fear has a rich man of calamity?” When riches begin to forsake one even the accumulated stock dwindles away.

Do not inhabit a country where you are not respected, cannot earn livelihood have no friends, or cannot acquire knowledge.

Do not stay for a single day where there are not these five persons: a wealthy man a brahmana well versed in Vedic lore, a king, a river and a physician

Wise men should never go into a country where here are no means of earning one’s livelihood, where the people have no dread of anybody, have no sense of shame, no intelligence, or a charitable disposition

Test a servant while in the discharge of his duty, a relative in difficulty, a friend in adversity, and a wife in misfortune

He is a true friend who does not forsake us in time of need, misfortune, famine or war, in a king’s court, or at the crematorium.

He, who gives up what is imperishable for that, which is perishable, loses that which is imperishable; and doubtlessly loses that which is perishable too.

Do not put your trust in rivers, men who carry weapons, beasts with claws or horns, women, and members of a royal family

Even from poison extract nectar, was and take back gold if it has fallen in filth, receive the highest knowledge from a low born person; so also girl possessing virtuous qualities even if she is born in a disreputable family.

Women have hunger two fold, shyness four fold, daring 6 fold and lust 8 fold as compared to men

Untruthfulness, rashness, guile, stupidity, avarice, un-cleanliness and cruelty are a woman’s seven natural flaws.

To have ability for eating when dishes are ready at hand, to be robust and virile in the company of one’s religiously wedded wife, and to have a mind for making charity when one is prosperous are the fruits of no ordinary austerities.

He whose son is obedient to him, whose wife’s conduct is in accordance with his wishes, and who is content with his riches, has his heaven here on earth.

They alone are some who are devoted to their father. He is a father who supports his sons. He is friend in whom we can confide, and she only is a wife in whose company the husband feels contented and peaceful.

Avoid him who speaks sweetly before you but tries to ruin you behind your back, for he is like pitcher of poison with milk on the top.

Do not put your trust in a bad companion nor even trust an ordinary friend, for if he should get angry with you, he may bring all your secrets to life.

Do not reveal what you have thought upon doing, but by wise counsel keep it secret, being determined to carry it into execution.

Foolishness is indeed painful, and verily so is youth, but more painful by far than either is being obliged in another person’s house.

Wise men should always bring up their sons in various moral ways, for children who have knowledge of niti-shastra and are all behaved become a glory to their family.

Those parents who do not educate their sons are their enemies; for as is a crane among swans, so are ignorant sons in a public assembly.

Many a bad habit is developed through over indulgence, and many a good one by chastisement, therefore beat your own son as well as pupil; never indulge them
(Spare the rod and spoil the child)

Let not a single day pass without your learning verse, half a verse, or a fourth of it, or even one letter of it, nor without attending to charity, study and other pious activity.

Separation from the wife, disgrace from one’s own people, an enemy saved in battle, service to wicked king, poverty, and a mismanaged assembly: these six kinds of evils, if afflicting a person, burn him even without fire

A Brahmin’s strength is in his learning is in his learning, a king’s strength is in his army, a vaishya’s strength is in his wealth and a shudra’s strength is in his attitude of service.

The prostitute has to forsake a man who has no money, the subject a king that cannot defend him, the birds a tree that bears no fruit and the guests a house after they have finished their meals.

Brahmins quit their patrons after receiving alms from them, scholars leave their teachers after receiving education from them, and animals desert a forest that has been burnt down.
He who befriends a man whose conduct is vicious, whose vision impure and who is notoriously crooked is rapidly ruined.

Friendship between equals flourishes; service under a kind is respectable, it is good to be business minded in public dealings.

A man’s descent may be discerned by his conduct, his country by his pronunciation of their language, his friendship by his warmth and glow, and his capacity to his eat by his body.

Of a rascal and serpent, the serpent is the better of the two, for he strikes only at the tie he is destined to kill, while the former at every step.

At the time of the pralaya the oceans exceed their limits and seek to change, but a saintly man never changes

Do not keep company with a fool for we can see he is a two legged beast. Like an unseen thorn he pierces the heart with his sharp words.

Though men be endowed with beauty and youth and born in noble families, yet without education they are like the palasa flower, which is void of sweet fragrance

The beauty of a cuckoo is in its notes that of a woman in her unalloyed devotion to her husband, that of an ugly person in his scholarship, and that of an ascetic in his forgiveness.

Give up a member to save a family, a family to save a village, a village to save a country, and the country to save yourself

There is no poverty fir the industrious. Sin does not attach himself to the person practicing japa. Those who are absorbed in maunam have no quarrel with others. They are fearless who remain alert.

Fondle with a son until he is five years of age, and use the stick for another ten years, but when he has attained his sixteenth year treat him as a friend.

He who runs away from a fearful calamity, a foreign invasion, a terrible famine and the companionship of wicked men is safe.

He who has not acquired one of the following : religious merit (dharma), wealth(artha), satisfaction of desires (kama) or liberation (moksa) is repeatedly born to die.

These five: the life span, the type of work wealth, learning and the time of one’s death are determined while one is in the womb.

Fish, tortoises and birds bring up their young by means of sight, attention and touch; so do saintly men afford protection to their associates by the same means.

As long as your body is healthy and under control and death is distant, try to save your soul; when death is imminent what can you do?

Learning is the cow of desire. It, like her, yields in all seasons. Like a mother, it feeds you on your journey. Therefore learning is a hidden treasure.

When one is consumed by the sorrows of life, three things give him relief: offspring, a wife and the company of the Lord’s devotees.

Religious austerities should be practiced alone, study by two, and singing by three. A journey be undertaken by four, agriculture with five, and war by many together.

Scriptural lessons not put into practice are poison; a meal is poison to whim who suffers from indigestion, a social gathering is poison to a poverty stricken person; and a young wife is poison to an aged man.

Constant travel brings old age upon a man; a horse becomes old by being constantly tied up; lack of sexual contact with her husband brings old age upon a woman; and garments become old through being left in the sun.

Consider again and again the following:
The right time, The right friends, The right place, The right means of income, The right way of spending, and from whom you derive your power.

tips for greatness from robin sharma

Harvey Keitel and windows of opportunity

I spent lot of time encouraging the readers of my books and participants at my workshops on personal and organizational leadership ‘run towards your fears’ and to seize those “cubic centimeters of chance” when they present themselves. I challenge my clients to dream to shine to dare, because to me life well lived is all about reaching for your highest and your best. And, in my mind the person who experiences the most wins.

Each day, life will send you little windows of opportunity. Your destiny will ultimately be defined by how you respond to these windows of opportunity. Shrink from them and your life will be small.  Feel the fear and run to them anyway and your life will be big, Life’s just too short to play little. Even with your kids, you kids you only have a tiny window to develop them and champion their highest potential.  And to show them what unconditional love looks like. When the window closes it’s hard to re open it.

Nothing fails like success

Powerful thought isn’t it?? You as well as your organization, are most vulnerable when you are most successful. Success breeds complacency(self-satisfaction), inefficiency and worst of all arrogance.

When people and businesses get really successful, they fall in love with themselves. They stop working hard, stop innovating, taking risks and begin to rest on their laurels.

They go on the defensive, spending their energy protecting their success rather than staying true to the very things that got them to the top.

This past weekend, I took my kids to our favorite Italian restaurant. The food is incredible there. The best bresaola outside of Italy, Heavenly pasta, super foamy lattes that make me want to give up my job and become a barista. But the service is bad, Why? Because the place is always full. Because they are doing so well they’ve taken the lines for granted. And guess what It’s the beginning of their end.

I love taking pictures. I asked our server if she could take a picture of my children and me as we dug into our sphagetti. “I don’t have time” was the curt reply. Unbelievable. Too busy to help out a little bit. Too busy to show some humanity.

Nothing fails like success. When you’re making money and good margins, you tend to get sloppy.” Many CEOs don’t. The more successful you and your organization become, the  more humble and devoted you need to your customers you need to be. The more committed to efficiency and relentless improvement you need to be. The faster you need to play. The more value you need to add. Because the moment you stop doing the very things that got you to the top of the mountain is the very moment you begin to slide down to the valley.

Waste Water Treatment plant at Bhatiya

WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANT AT BHATTIYA
On 18 the October 2007, we the students of GURU NANAK DEV ENGINEERING COLLEGE made a visit to the Waste water treatment plant at Bhattiya which is under the Sutlej Action plan in ZONE B.
We started off at 11:00 am and reached there at around 12:00. Bhattiya is a village and is situated on the outskirts of the ludhiana city it took us 1 hour to get there and we were greeted by the SDO sir over there which is also the head of that waste water plant.
He gave us quite simplified information about the wastewater treatment plant, its parts , its functioning and various processes of the plants too.
The waste water treatment plant is 86 killa in area and it consists of various other treatment process which consist of a gritter, screening units and the pipelines system, gas holders, sludge drying beds, gas flaring system, UASB reactors etc. of various processes.
It has a capacity of treating a discharge of 110 Million litres per day.
The whole of the plant is in a map which is given in the picture:

It is a model of the plant and it gives an overview of the plant in a nutshell. So it basically has three major units
1 Collection
2. Treatment
3. Disposal
Basically the water flows through the collection chamber it is first made to flow through coarse screener where the bulky materials in the wastewater are collected and taken out. Secondly, the waste water is made to pass the fine screening unit and then it is passed through the gritter then lastly the water is treated through the UASB technology and is disposed to nearby river.

The main collection of the wastewater is done through various drains and the first process of the treatment is started through the collection

The picture shows the collection of the wastewater through the drainage water system and it is collected and the first process of collection is started.

The water passing through the inlet first comes across the gates which are as shown in figure below which helps in the regulation of the discharge water coming through.

Now after the water passes through the gates t, the gates are closed for the water to be treated further. These gates are quite efficient in the regulation of the water and they help in the maintenance of the walls, which are cleaned through and maintained by the workers.

The Coarse screener

The bulk materials in the waste water like the paper bags, plastics or the leather materials which are big in size. It consists of the screener of a suitable gauge(i.e the distance between the two consecutive gauges), the screeners are cleaned through regularly and simultaneously through chain operation as the screeners are pulled upwards they are collected at the back in the back side

Its a total mechanical mechanism. The back side of the mechanical screener whcih shows the chain linkages which carries the screens and are thrown towards the outer side where the conveyer belt is placed and the material is collected at the end of the conveyer belt.

Now the finer screener comes into action where the smaller particles which are not caught by the previous screener. This is quite like the previous screen but it is quite finer and can get smaller materials through it.

Through this screener even minor materials like grits and suspended particles are also passed through it. But it is quite efficient in removing the visible bulky materials which are present in the waste water.

Now its the mechanical gritter where the water is treated ofr the small seeds and the still smaller are taken out of the waste water it is done manually or it is done mechnically the grits are basically the small seeds of tomatoes

or cucmber which in turn come into the waste water.

they are collected in the barrel but they are first treated with the mechanical gritter it is a sophisticated device where the the fine screens are placed in the path of the wastewater and they are screened in the screener adn itis considered as the highest efficient process and no particle is said to be passed through this screen as the screen is finely divided too.

The finely divided screens are held mechanically and the screens are pulled b mechanical arms once in 3minutes and theya re folded at the end and hence the materials collected are automatically given through the belt conveyer at the back of it. The grit, the finest particles are assumed to be removed and only the suspended particles or the dissovled materials are present in the water. Here after this stage all the water contains the dissolved particles only.

The dissolved particles presence in the water with the gritters are also mechanically done with a rotor which rotates one revolution in 7 minutes. The water enter through the paddles which distributes the water uniformly through all those water panels and now the water is made to pass through the rotor and the rotor rotates and takes the particles with it and they are collected at the end of teh hole and they are again pulled out in the collecting barrel through chains and hence the water is free form the grits and small particles then the screener (fine)

Now the water collected is passed through the pipelines which are agin distributed from 20 to 240 pipes and then are treated by the process of UASB process which is highly sophisticated process which involves the water to be treated with full efficiency and less time consuming. The water is bubbled out in the surface and it has a ph of about 7.0 which can be treated as the neutral one which is fit for drinking purpose but is still made to go through the sedimentation process. It may be rapid or slow filter type process, as the waer still has some muddy looks which is aestheticlly not fit for drinking, now the water is pased through the channels which are long upto 5km to 7km and deep upto 8ft deep, inthis process the water is made to flow very slowly and the water contain suspended particles and they are made to settle down in the base of the water reservoir, and the water is made to flow through the fall and is then drained upto the end and are made to flow through the river which is made to flow with the river canals nearby the very plant.
